HOW IT WORKS:
Formats:
Tom’s Culinary Adventures offers a diverse selection of event formats that will fit any group or meet any goal of your gathering. Our events can be completely demonstrative or fully hands-on with a wide range of levels of difficulties. If you want something very casual and easy, we have that for you. If you want the team to have a challenge that will require them to work together and pull out all those teamwork skills, we have that for you as well.
Each of the formats below can be tailored to what you want to accomplish. No matter if it is a new team that you want to get to know each other better or a team that has been together for twenty years, we will create an event that will provide a truly enjoyable and FUN time for all.
Here is a listing of some of our most popular event formats:
Lunch or Dinner with the Chef:
Description: This format is a completely demonstrative program where your group will get to sit down and enjoy a full culinary demonstrative, performed by one of our chefs, culminating in a full lunch or dinner. The chef will explain and cook your group’s meal as they enjoy each course. This format is great for any group who would like to learn some culinary skills in a private setting and get to enjoy lunch or dinner in a very unique way.
Type: Demonstration
Challenge: None
All For One, One For All:
This format is a completely hands-on event where your team will be broken into smaller teams, all with certain recipes that they are responsible to finish for the entire group’s meal. The entire team works together as a group to finish the meal on time and setup the cooking school for their sit-down meal.
Type: Hands-on
Challenge: Low to Medium
Friendly Competition (Most Popular):
This format is our most popular format and is a completely hands-on and interactive. Your group will be broken into pre-assigned smaller teams (either chosen by you or randomly by us). Each smaller team will be given one to three recipes of menu items that they have no idea what it should look like. The teams will then need to follow the recipe and add their own creative license to make their menu items into something special. Additionally, the whole event will be timed and all the teams will need to finish their recipes in the given time. To add even more challenge, our chefs will leave out certain ingredients or pieces of equipment to make the teams think outside the box to finish their recipes. At the end of the event, our chefs will judge and crown the winning team based on presentation and taste, while the team enjoys the results of all their hard work. This is casual competition with lots of fun.
Type: Hands-On
Challenge: Medium (Lower and higher levels can be customized)
Iron Chef:
This format is the ultimate in hands-on and challenge. The group will be broken into two smaller teams who will be given a large group of ingredients. Similar to TV contests, each team will need to develop a menu and create a five-course meal only using the ingredients and equipment given. The two teams will need to delegate, manage, and work together in order to finish their meal in the pre-set time. This event is our most difficult event format and should only be chosen for groups who either have culinary backgrounds or are seeking a significant challenge for their event.
Type: Hands-On
Challenge: High
